The Infopedia Media group within Microsoft started developing a new product in 2014 called Learning Paths. Learning paths are groups of content, whether videos, courses, documents, decks, etc., that are grouped together, assigned points, and a chronology to enable a user to learn about a specific topic. They have grown to be very successful programs. Artifact designed the first learning path, the basic learning path web templates, and every custom learning path since.

The Microsoft Global Onboarding vNext is an example of a custom learning path. Its target audience is every Microsoft new hire.
